Description
Unleash from Local Color – Workshop
Tracey Maras
Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
The sky is blue. The grass is green. But are they? Do they have to be? Painting a scene in Local Color, the intrinsic color of an object, is the tried-and-true approach to painting, and has been the cornerstone of art for millennia. Therein lies the predicament. It can be predictable and can become mundane.
During this workshop you will learn about and experience a variety of ways of unleashing from local color. Focusing on a few key principles, your paintings can take on nearly any color scheme and communicate much more. We will also take a look at unleashing your composition from a reference photo.
